    Belt Promotions!

With every new stripe or belt promotion, comes more responsibility than the last. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu promotions are much different than karate promotions or any other martial arts forms. On average, someone who trains karate 2 times a week for 5 years, can obtain a black belt. • Should you Compete?

    Should you Compete?

By: Emily Kwok “SHOULD I COMPETE?” I am asked this question a lot. I often respond, I’m not sure if you should, but here’s why I do. In the beginning it had more to do with curiosity than anything else. There were so few women in jiu jitsu that I just wanted to know how I would fare against someone built more like me. Training for my first tournament gave me focus and discipline, but most of all, it taught me something about authenticity and truth.
