Belt Promotions!

With every new stripe or belt promotion, comes more responsibility than the last. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu promotions are much different than karate promotions or any other martial arts forms. On average, someone who trains karate 2 times a week for 5 years, can obtain a black belt. Unlike, in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it takes 8 to 10 years of constant hard work, dedication and training to earn that black belt around your waist.

With Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, every belt (other than Black Belt) is required a minimum of 4 stripes. Once you get to that fourth stripe on your belt, you get promoted to the next level of training and responsibility. There are 16 different belt colors you can earn as a child before you can receive your black belt. Though, you can not get your black belt until you are at least 19 years old. For adults, there are only 4 different belts to earn until you can receive your black belt.

Here at Sampson Jiu Jitsu Academy we give out every promotion with great pride. August 6th, 2019 the Coaches got to put many smiles on our Champions faces as they promoted them. Some got to take home a brand new stripe on their belts, while others now get to represent a whole new belt for the months to come.
