    With every new stripe or belt promotion, comes more responsibility than the last. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu promotions are much different than karate promotions or any other martial arts forms. On average, someone who trains karate 2 times a week for 5 years, can obtain a black belt. Unlike, in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it takes 8 to 10 years of constant hard work, dedication and training to earn that black belt around your waist. With Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, every belt (other than Black Belt) is required a minimum of 4 stripes.
